Welcome to our first post, a look back at mine and Adam’s 2019 travel adventures. Our first year was full of exciting stuff and made up of day trips, including attractions along with some short hotel stays within the UK and abroad. It took us on three city breaks within Europe too. Those included Amsterdam, Belgrade and finally Milan! Which isn’t bad when you consider we have only been travelling together for a short while! As you can imagine, we also managed to see a few sporting venues together.

Summer Trips

Our first of many trips was to York, where we stayed at the York Marriott in an accessible room. I enjoy staying at Marriott hotels as I find them very comfortable with my accessibility needs.

The second of our trips was a day trip to London, Adam’s first trip to London! We decided to go on the Wembley tour along with a visit to The Shard and finally food at the Hard Rock Cafe! It was a fun-filled day!

Our third trip was to Manchester, where we stayed in two hotels. The first one being Hotel Football which is part of the Marriott group which came with one of our favourite views. We woke to a picture of Old Trafford from our room window. We also stayed at the MacDonald Manchester Hotel. Another great hotel where we treated ourselves to a suite and had some fantastic views of the city. We also visited the Hard Rock Cafe Manchester for date night followed by lunch at Rosso’s the next day.

So, our fourth trip was an overnight stay in London at Wembley again. We did a small amount of sightseeing and then had food at the Hard Rock Cafe (yes we like this restaurant!) The next day we travelled home via the train which was an eventful day!

And the fifth of our trips was a road trip! We ended up firstly in Sheffield in a delightful old manor house which was part of the Mercure group on the outskirts. Our trip then took us south to London, where we stayed at a floating hotel on the Thames which had impressive views!

We had a stay at the Mercure in Haydock too for our sixth trip. Another excellent hotel that we enjoyed while enjoying a day at Haydock Racecourse.

Autumn/Winter Adventures

We went to Amsterdam for our seventh. A city neither of us had been before, and we can’t wait to go back as we felt there was so much more to explore. During our visit we stayed at the Ibis near the airport as we got a late flight in and had an early flight out! We mainly walked/wheeled around the city, which we like to do to see what’s around us. While exploring, we enjoyed the vibe of Amsterdam as well as the accessibility! We visited the Hard Rock Cafe Amsterdam. I told you we are fans! We used public transport and headed down to the Hague where we found public transport very accessible.

We where off to London again for our eighth trip for Adam’s birthday, where we stayed at the Hilton in Wembley, which is another very accessible hotel! While at the hotel we used the spa & did some sightseeing!

Our ninth trip was to Belgrade, Serbia. A surprising trip and a new country for both of us. We stayed in the Holiday Inn Belgrade City. We did manage to do some exploring and were pleasantly surprised with the city’s and hotel’s accessibility.

Our tenth trip was to Milan, Italy! We stayed at the AC Marriott for two nights and again we mainly explored via foot & wheels! It was a lovely city break in late November which we well needed after a hectic end to the year!

We also took a day trip to Somerset, where we visited Weston-Super-Mare and the surrounding areas to show Adam where my mum loved to visit. It was a nice visit and brought back childhood memories. We ended up staying in the Swinton Marriott as it was late and we didn’t fancy the drive home.
The year ended with two day trips to Haydock Races & Knowsley Safari Park! We also stayed at one last hotel, the Holiday Inn Bromsgrove where I visited family before Christmas!

We will do more in-depth posts about our trips, but we wanted to give you a short overview of 2019 with us. As you can tell, we like to travel to lots of places both in the UK & abroad and will cover a host of different things as we blog our adventures.

We look forward to sharing our 2020 travels with you.

Adam & Vicky
